Ingredients
- [ ] 225g sirloin steak or beef tenderloin, cut into bite-sized pieces (450kcals, 60g protein)
- [ ] 1 tablespoons olive oil
- [ ] 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- [ ] 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- [ ] 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup for a refined sugar-free option)
- [ ] 2 cloves garlic, minced
- [ ] 1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme (optional)
- [ ] Salt and pepper to taste
- [ ] Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Season the Steak: Pat the steak pieces dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
2. Sear the Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak pieces in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Sear for about 2 minutes per side until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
3. Make the Balsamic Glaze: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil along with the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, honey, and thyme (if using). Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes until it reduces slightly and thickens.
4. Coat the Steak: Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss them in the balsamic glaze. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, making sure the steak pieces are fully coated.
5. Serve Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately. These steak bites are perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or alongside roasted vegetables.
For extra flavor, you can marinate the steak in the balsamic mixture for 15-20 minutes before cooking. Adjust the cook time based on how you like your steak (medium-rare, medium, etc.).
